Pypestream Brings Voice Into Contact Center, Enabling Seamless Handoffs from AI Agents to Live Support
Distributed by SERP Rule · Originally issued via Newswire
NEW YORK, November 5, 2026 (Newswire.com) - Pypestream, which builds AI agents that finish the job for Fortune-class enterprises, today announced that voice is now a native channel inside Pypestream Contact Center, the platform customer service teams use to handle chat, email, SMS and social. Enterprises can now run their entire contact center on one platform: AI Agents resolve roughly nine in ten inquiries end to end, and the calls that need a person reach one who already knows what the caller said.
A call reaches a person in two ways. The caller asks for one, or the enterprise's business rules require it. An insurer, for example, can route every auto or property claim that involves an injury to a live agent automatically. In both cases the caller stays on the line. The human agent joins the same call, sees a summary of what the caller has already told the AI Agent, and follows a live transcript as the conversation continues. Nobody redials, waits in a second queue, or repeats themselves.
Contact Center runs voice on the same queue and assignment rules as every other channel. When a call needs a person, it checks hours of operation, team assignments and agent capacity, then brings in the best available agent. That agent answers directly in the browser tool they already use for chat, with no separate phone system to open, and can transfer or end the call from the same screen. Calls can be recorded for quality review and training, as each account chooses.
The gap between what companies assume and what callers want is wide. A Gartner survey of 3,566 customers, conducted in February and March 2026, found that 87% consider it essential for companies using generative AI in customer service to offer a way to reach a human. Pypestream built voice in Contact Center for that moment.
"For years enterprises were told AI would transform the contact center, and voice kept them tied to a separate phone system and a separate vendor. On Pypestream, chat has worked on one platform for a long time. Voice was the gap. Now AI Agents handle the large majority of inquiries on every channel, and the conversations that need a person reach one who already has the context. That is the whole contact center on one platform, and it is live today," said Richard Smullen, founder and CEO of Pypestream.
The AI Agent that answers the call is Pypestream Voice AI, which became generally available in October 2026. Pypestream introduced Contact Center in 2024 to connect its AI Agents with human agents, and voice extends that connection to the phone.
"Nobody wants to repeat themselves, especially when contacting a business. When a call moves from our AI agent to a human, the agent hears a quick brief before joining, then sees a summary and the live transcript. Meaning, they can easily pick up the call mid-conversation rather than starting from scratch," said Gabriela Naumnik, voice AI product lead at Pypestream.
Voice was the last major channel outside Pypestream Contact Center. With it in place, Pypestream can power an enterprise's entire contact center on one platform, where AI Agents resolve the calls and chats they can and human agents are reserved for the conversations that need them, with the context in hand.
